Juan Ignagio Villafane begann
im Alter von 15 Jahren Boogie Woogie zu tanzen. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt gab es
noch keinen Lindy Hop in Südamerika. Im Jahr 2000, drei Jahre später,
fing eine kleine Gruppe von Boogie Woogie Tänzern, in der Juan integriert
war, an, den Lindy Hop zu erforschen. Vorwiegend durch Abschauen - sich
selbst unterrichtend - inspiriert von den alten Filmen der original Lindy
Hop Tänzer, entwickelte diese kleine Gruppe eine beeindruckende Lindy Hop
Szene in Buenos Aires. Und all das nur durch Trainieren, Tanzen,
Erforschen und Studieren der afroamerikanischen Paartänze sowie deren
Geschichte und Musik.
Juan leistete und leistet einen großen Beitrag zu dieser Entwicklung und
in ihrem Verlauf erlangte er tiefgreifendes Wissen über Jazztanz, Musik
und die Geschichte.
Nach acht Jahren Tanzen und Forschen begann er nun selbst zu unterrichten
nachdem er im Jahr 2004 an der Hochschule eine Ausbildung zum Sportlehrer
absolviert hatte. Er führte das erste Lindy Hop Event in Buenos Aires ein
mit dem Namen "Swing Brother Swing" was nun ein regelmäßiger
Treffpunkt der ganzen Swingtanzszene ist. Er organisierte auch zwei Jahre
nacheinander das BALHF (Buenos Aires Lindy Hop Festival), wo er
Tanzstunden gab und als Haupt DJ arbeitete.
Er hat schon mit den meisten traditionellen Swing- und Jazzbands in Buenos
Aires zusammengearbeitet, Bühnenshows gemacht und trat auch im Fernsehen
sowie auf Ausstellungen auf.
Im Jahr 2006 begann er in Europa herumzureisen, um zu tanzen, Lindy Hop
Events zu besuchen aber auch um zu unterrichten. Juan trainiert Tag für
Tag hart um immer weiter zu lernen und auch andere für diesen
fantastischen Paartanz zu begeistern ......den Lindy Hop.
Juan Ignagio Villafane started dancing Boogie Woogie at the age of 15. At that moment, there was no Lindy Hop in South America.
In the year 2000, three years later, a small group of Boogie Woogie dancers (where Juan was included) starts researching about The Lindy Hop.
Mostly self-taught, and inspired by the old movies of the original Lindy Hop dancers, this small group has developed through the years a quite big Lindy Hop scene in Buenos Aires, just by practicing, dancing, researching and studying the dance, the music and the history of the African-American couple dances.
Juan Ignacio gives huge contributions to this develop and in the process he gets an "in-depth" knowledge of Jazz dance, music and history.
Dancing for about 8 years, he starts giving classes just two years ago, in 2004 after being graduated as a Physical Education Professor.
He ran the first Lindy Hop Venue in Buenos Aires, called "Swing Brother Swing", a point of reunion for the whole local "swing dance scene" and organized for two years in a row the BALHF (Buenos Aires Lindy Hop Festival) where he also gave classes and worked as main DJ.
He works with most of the Traditional Jazz, and Swing Bands of Buenos Aires, doing shows, TV appearances and exhibitions.
During 2006 he starts traveling around Europe, dancing, participating in Lindy Hop events and also teaching.
Juan Ignacio, works hardly day by day to continue learning and also inspiring others to get into the amazing world of couple swing dancing...The Lindy
Hop.
